AIR TRAVEL DURING PREGNANCY 05/07/2019

Here are some tips for pregnant women traveling by air. We made research on how safe it is for pregnant women to travel for air and we got some tips to make their trip a memorable one. Research made it known to use that it is totally save to travel by air during the first 8months of a healthy pregnant and most airline won’t allow pregnant women to travel during the ninth month of pregnancy except if there is a permission from your healthcare provider.

U.S Center for disease control and prevention (CDC) made it clear that it’s a good idea to get a pre-travel evaluation from a healthcare provider and carry a copy of your medical records for prenatal care.

Note that the best time to travel is your second trimester.

When Flying

  • Chose a seat where you can easily walk around from time to time or where you can stretch your back and legs (Most airline have narrow aisle and small bathroom which makes it hard for pregnant women to go around and uncomfortable to use the bathroom)
  • Fasten your belt below your abdomen
  • Due to low humidity in the plane we advise you drink a lot of water and carry more alone with you to avoid dehydration.
  • Dress comfortable in loose cotton clothes and comfortable shoes.
  • Avoid gassy foods and drinks like Beans, Broccoli, Vegetable and lot more. We found out that entrapped gasses expand at high altitude.
